In a press release made today, Honda announced their new SUV, the 2009 Honda Pilot, after a few days ago we showed you photos of the car caught in Detroit without any camo. The new SUV from Honda is powered by Honda’s 3.5 liter V6 engine which develops 250 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque and features the latest generation of fuel-saving Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM) technology that can operate the engine with all six cylinders for power or just four or three cylinders to improve fuel efficiency. This improves the fuel economy of the 2009 Pilot to 17/23 (mpg city/mpg highway) at 2WD versions and 16/22 for 4WD. The engine is mated to a standard five-speed automatic and VTM-4 four-wheel-drive remains an option.

Besides the enhanced powertrain the new Pilot also has a new list of available features which include Bluetooth, Hill Start Assist, Power Tailgate, and a Tailgate with a lift-up glass hatch and will be available in four versions, LX, EX, EX-L and a new Touring model.

Today, GermanCarBlog posted two new cool videos for the upcoming Volkswagen Scirocoo. Also, you can find out more about the Scirocco from the official Volkswagen microsite, here.

The VW Scirocco debut this year at the Geneva Motor Show, 34 years after the original Scirocco was unveiled at the same Swiss show and VW plans to make the Scirocco an affordable sports car (in Germany pricing will start at 21,750 Euros), which can also be used in day-by-day activities.

The Cadillac CTS Coupe debuted at Detroit, we saw it live at Geneva and we were really impressed with it. So here is a spy video by Inside Line, which shows the car being tested at GM’s Milford Proving Grounds. Though the CTS Coupe is pretty well camouflaged, we can see that the production version will hold many of the Concept’s characteristics.

Sometime, all those animal rights activists are right and their actions save animals, but sometimes, they’re simply ridiculous. Take, for example, this VW Polo commercial. That singing dog is pretty funny. But the commercial had to be taken off air after animal rights groups said that the “shaking” dog either was mistreated to behave in such a way, either it gave the wrong impression to the public by showing an animal that feared its owner.

Even though VW said that the two terriers, Cody and Bear, are highly trained animals and the whole commercial shooting was supervised by the American Humane Association, the commercial had to be taken off air. Now we don’t know about you, but we don’t think that there was someone on the set whipping the dog to act like that.

The BMW M3 Convertible is definitely a cool car. Powered by the 420 hp 4.0 liter V8 engine, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.3 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). With its retractable hard-top opening and closing in 22 seconds, BMW wanted to make sure the M3 Convertible experience is the best. As you probably know, the Iron Man movie will hit cinemas starting May 2nd. The movie features Robert Downey Jr (one of my personal favourites actors), Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges and Samuel L. Jackson and is about a guy, Tony Stark (Downey Jr), who is is forced to create a life support suit to keep him alive after an accident and who he decides to use the technology in his suit to fight crime. Besides these fine actors and plenty of cool special effects, the movie also features another star, this time from the auto world, the Audi R8, which has just won two categories at the 2008 Car of the Year awards.

And here’s a teaser video released recently by Audi, called “Powerful Ideas” and which shows the similarities between the Iron Man and the beautiful Audi R8. Also, you may want to check out the Audi “Iron Man” microsite. Enjoy!

I remember seeing an episode of Top Gear where Jeremy Clarkson was saying that the Audi R8 is an extraordinary car, except for the fact that it’s very quiet comparing to what you’d expect from a supercar like this. Well, guess that Edo Competition took care of that “problem”, because here’s a video of the sound made by an Audi R8 fitted with a new Edo Competition exhaust system.
